...it [NTG8] sounds sweet, with a gentle HF lift centred around 10kHz, characteristic of the classic shotguns. It will inevitably be compared with the Sennheiser MKH816 and I think it sounds cleaner and less coloured off-axis.

I am extremely impressed with RØDE. I have two VideoMics and read a lot of reviews and RØDE seems to get have a great reputation for quality. Your customer service has been fantastic and in line with your quality product

I tip my hat to you for making the NT1-A. I find it neither warm nor cold, but true to what my ears hear when set up for stereo. Well done!

The RØDE Rec app is a powerful tool in its own right but also helps get the most out of the excellent hardware. Using the two together, you have a powerful recording and editing tool in the palm of your hand.

Thanks for being a company that does things the right way, stands behind your products and takes care of its customers. Your qualities are rare indeed in this age of leaning out the supply chain and settling for less.

When tested [iXY] with louder sounds - trains and traffic approaching and receding - it was pleasing to find that there was no significant drop in centre image due to sound hitting both capsules off-axis - the unpleasant 'pinched' centre image that some X-Y stereo mics suffer from.

The NTG3 has one of the clearest, most natural tones I’ve heard in a long time, and with only 13dBA self-noise and a weight of just 163g, it’s every recordist’s dream.

Just added to my mic kit - RØDE NT2-A large diaphragm condenser. I liked the 1A but this has variable control over the response pattern.
The sound is much, much better with the VideoMic than with the standard microphone… There’s less environmental sound when recording voice; less reverb from the ‘room’, and less background noise. The voice itself is clear and crisp without being sibilant.
