The RØDE Lavalier is a discreet lavalier or lapel style microphone that provides simple and intuitive audio in any application.
The Lavalier's low self noise, user friendly omni-directional polar pattern and minimal appearance make it an ideal solution for film, television, video, theatre, house of worship and anywhere where a high quality microphone needs to be heard but not seen.
The microphone capsule is connected via a 1.2m (4') shielded, detachable Kevlar® reinforced cable that has been rigorously strain tested up to 10kg to ensure reliable performance.
The included mini-furry for high wind protection ensures quality recordings in adverse environments, and the included cable management clips ensure that you are able to minimise the microphone and cable visibility, while providing maximum mobility for the wearer.
The supplied anti-trauma water resistant case provides rugged and secure protection for the microphone, cable, clips and included accessories.
Knowing that versatility is paramount in any product, RØDE has developed the MiCon™ connector system which provides seamless integration between the Lavalier and a wide range of wireless systems as well as consoles, cameras and portable recorders.
The RØDE Lavalier lapel microphone is covered by RØDE Microphones' innovative 5 year 'no questions asked' warranty which provides 12 months of complete cover, and an optional US$99 replacement microphone during the extended warranty period.

Lavalier microphone reviews:
“The new RØDE Lavalier has a full bodied low end and a natural high end response. This means you can do a better match with a boom mic in post. The sound produced is lovely, and matches my other quality lavs well. While testing, myself and another sound recordist were hard put to hear any difference with my standard units retailing at twice the price of the RØDE! I also love the ability to interchange the capsule/lead/ adaptor with the MiCon system. That means greater flexibility.

“As I often receive requests to create music, make sound effects, record voices, or field record various items, the RØDE Lavalier is now very important for my production work. This is the true all around winner microphone for all types of recordings.
The first thing I noticed was the lightness and thinness of this mic. Despite being so small, the Kevlar material is very, very strong. The included waterproof case is a bonus! With everything I record, the ability to use short and long extension cables is crucial. Like many others, I don't want to use standard XLR cables with Lavalier microphones. With the length of the mic by itself, it is enough for voice related sessions. When we record a small car (in motion) at 12 feet plus in length or a large battle tank (in motion) at over 32 feet long , we can place the lavaliers from the engine and exhaust areas to where I sit inside the vehicle using multiple RØDE extension cables. Unlike standard thick XLR cables, I can run these thin RØDE extensions without having to use so much gaffers tape to secure them on fast moving vehicles. The small screw-on couplers to secure cables together works quite well so the idea of lightness and thinness is still maintained.
For the professional tests I connected the mic to my Sound Devices field recorder and walked around the studio and home reciting various words at various volumes. The lavalier was on my polo shirt using the included clip. The performance was excellent, especially bringing out the mid and lower frequency ranges. Even though outside was very windy, the included mini-furry worked quite well without muffling my voice.
For the consumer/prosumer tests I connected the mic to my Zoom H4n handheld recorder and also recited various words around the studio and house. This Lavalier performed very well even with a far less expensive recording device. Voice overs came in loud and clear using both settings of 24bit/96khz as well as 16bit/48khz!
For the next set of tests I connected the lavalier to the exhaust areas of my cars. Again, the mid and lower ranges shined! With various brands of the lavaliers I already owned, this very clear mid range is now very important for my final mixes. I'm sure my future and current clients will be very pleased with this "new" sound.”
