NT2000 microphone reviews:
“Certainly, no one looking for a multiple-pattern response and working on a tight budget can afford to ignore it
”
- Music Tech Magazine
“It's pretty amazing to find a mic that has an expansive feature set like this one, that sounds great (and I mean really great - there are few mics I have found that can compare, even ones costing nearly US$3000) and doesn't break the bank”
- Recording Magazine
“The variable polar pattern is the coolest thing. It really expands the possibilities of the recording process. This mic has no weaknesses period.”
- Anonymous, Harmony Central
“Unexpectedly, these "studio mics" also perform very well in outdoor recording applications. Ive found them to be very resistant to humidity and faithful to -35 F. Within traditional wind-protection schemes, they are as wind-resistant as any mid-size diaphragm mics I've used. I find their smooth lower-mid-range frequency response in conjunction with their very low self-noise worth the extra hassle of out-fitting them for the field.”

“The RØDE NT2000 is one of my go-to mics because of its silky tone and transparent quality. And because it has a variable polar sweep, combined with the variable low frequency rolloff and variable pad, this mic a real "utility player" in the studio.”
- Mark Maxwell, Sweetwater
“I'll admit that when I first heard about the NT2000, the inclusion of those extra knobs seemed a little bit "gimmicky" to me. It wasn't until I tried one out in the studio that I realized how practical they really are! In particular, the ability to tailor your own polar pattern is very useful when trying to balance the amount of direct vs. reflected sound you want, or to minimize (or maximize) proximity effect.”
- Jeff Barnett, Sweetwater
“When you see the word "transparent" the first thing that comes to mind is how overused that term is. This is the ONLY word that accurately describes RØDE's tour de force in their line. With full adjustable pattern response and filter rolloff it offers versatility other mics haven't figured out yet.
The build is typical "built like a brick outhouse" RØDE style. Beautifully finished with only top flight switchgear all around. To plug one in and hear one is a experience all it's own. Full, airy, unrestricted, rich are only a few words that come close to describing it's output.
